Even a small idea can have a BIG impact

About Us

The Greater Binghamton Scholastic Challenge was created to encourage high school students to develop ideas and business that directly impact our community. Students will write comprehensive business plans and present their ideas to a panel of business professionals at the final event. All participants have the opportunity to win scholarship money and/or internship opportunities.

Background

The GBSC was founded in 2010 by Modern Marketing Concepts in Binghamton, NY. Dan Babcock, founder and CEO of the company, wanted to encourage entrepreneurship among young people in the Binghamton area. “The Southern Tier’s future depends on innovation, and these students will help our community reach its full potential.” – Dan Babcock

How it works

Brainstorm an Idea

Think about a problem you need solved, or something you’ve felt would make the world a better place.

Create an elaborate business plan

Outline all aspects of your business idea and execution plan. Checkout our rubric guideline for more information!

Develop a Prototype

Prototypes are not required, however they are highly suggested. A prototype can be your visual aid for your presentation. You will also be able to display these at your trade show booths.

Pitch Your Business at the Final Event

The final event will be held at Binghamton University. Local business owners will grade your business plans and dynamic presentations. This is your time shine!
